K Gothic is a free handwriting font that you can download. It retained the texture of handwriting and the look and feel of the font is well balanced in between being tidy and being cute.

K Gothic comes with extensive character library including supporting kanji characters up to Shift JIS Level 4 (Usually Level 1 or 2 is the standard). You can download and use this font for both personal and commercial projects.

Usage Permission

• Free for personal and commercial projects
• For commercial usage, you are required to report to the font designer on how you use it.

Komadori Mini is a cute Japanese font that uses small bird as design inspiration. The character designs are suitable to used as labels, headlines or as type companion for illustrations.

Komadori Mini is the free version which comes with limited sets of characters (282 in total), and only 80 kanji characters is provided. It’s only free for personal use, and you will need to purchase the full version to unlock all characters and be used in commercial works.

Banana Slip Plus is a display style free font with a little dose of cute elements. It was being refined from the previous version to improve on the visual balance of the characters, as well as adding more kanji characters.

Banana Slip Plus has a strong structure for the characters’ design but softened with the usage of curve lines. It will work well for posters and signages that requires some attention but not too “shouty”. It includes all the Japanese characters including supporting Kanji up to JIS Level 1 plus some Level 2 characters.

Hachi Maru Pop is a cute roundish free font that was inspired by the font style that was once trended in the 1980s in Japan. Such font style was quite popular among the teenage girls in that era. Hachi Maru in Japanese means 80, and they certainly incorporates the essence of the cute culture of the 80s, while the creator made some adjustments by injecting the modern design style into it.

Hachi Maru Pop comes with the standard Japanese characters with an extensive library of Kanji characters. Since the character design is more pop-py, it might not be suitable for a smaller font size design due to the potential readability issue. Nevertheless, this font is open-sourced, and is totally free to use for both personal and commercial projects.
